Innovate4AMR
The IDEA Initiative, in partnership with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) and ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance, organized a global, online design competition, Innovate4AMR, inviting students from around the world to develop innovative solutions for antibiotic stewardship in resource-limited settings. The 2019 competition reached over a half million in Facebook targeted campaigns, bringing 46,000 visitors to the Innovate4AMR website and over 1200 sign-ups to the competition’s listserv. The international judging process narrowed 163 submissions to ten winning teams. With support from the World Health Organization as well as the South Centre, over thirty students from thirteen countries joined the three-day capacity-building workshop in Geneva during World Antibiotic Awareness Week. The workshop enlisted experts to engage with the Innovate4AMR fellows. The goals were both to strengthen the design of their proposed projects and to impart useful project management tools and skills to deliver their Innovate4AMR interventions. In providing this unique experience, we hope to prepare the Innovate4AMR fellows to become future champions to address AMR.
